We also have boats cached on remote lakes like Kassagimini Lake, Bicknell Lake, Rowena Lake and many others. When you fish with us on our package plan all of these remote lakes are included. A fly in experience without the plane or the expense. We look forward to fishing with you. Bert
Every week Flint wilderness Resort offers a Tuesday night Hog Roast with all of the fixings. This is a great event whereby guests can socialize and share stories of the big one that got away. We look forward to seeing you there. Bert
The walleye season is finally upon us. The ice went out early this year in mid April and the weather is beautiful. During the middle of the first week the temperature hit an amazing 101 degrees Fahrenheit. Usually the walleye’s are spawning and the temperatures are in the 40’s. During this time of the walleye season you will find most of your fishing near moving water. The fisherman this year had to change there tactics, and move in to deeper water with great success. We are going to post some pictures along with a YouTube Flint Wilderness Resort Production throughout the season, so you can see the type of fishing that we have been experiencing every week.
The fishing season starts on May 14 , 2010. That’s about 4 weeks away. It is time to get ready for your fishing trip to Canada. One of the most popular questions I get asked is, ” What kind of lures should I bring when I fish for Walleye at Flint Wilderness Resort?” The answer depends on what time of the season you come.
As I said before the season will start May 14. During this time of year the ice will have just melted, and the water temperature will be about 38 degrees. This is ideal conditions for the spawning season for the Walleye. During the spawning season the Walleye are in shallow rushing water, such as inlets and outlets on Klotz Lake. This is an excellent time of year to use the traditional 1/8oz lead jig and tipping it with a small minnow.
When fishing with the lead jigs I always recommend bright colors such as chartreuse, orange, yellow, pink, and even black for night fishing. If you use these jigs with a small minnow, cast it as far as you can, and slowly work the jig along the bottom of the lake in the spawning areas. You will be sure to catch beautiful Klotz Lake Walleye in the spring of the year. We very much look forward to fishing with you in the future. We welcome your comments. Bert
